Possibilities of Using a Few Types of the Romanian Pit Coal in Electrical Power Plants

This paper analyzes the composition of the pit coal in Petrila, Romania in order to determine the possibilities of ensuring medium and long-term stable sources of energy to supply power plants using solid fuel. If we observe the distribution of coal deposits in Romania, we can conclude that they are spread over the entire territory, which means that everything is under control in what coal reserves are concerned. However, things are different, although pit coal represents about 20% of total coal reserves, since their economical and efficient use is limited to some specific deposits.The paper tries to show the direction of economic development of coal mines in Romania, to ensure industrial energy consumption.
